Archival photos: South Texas-Rio Grande Valley

With support from The Warhol Foundation- The Idea Fund, I traveled through South Texas border towns—Brownsville, San Benito, Harlingen, McAllen, and Victoria—with my mother and daughter, tracing the migratory path my grandparents took from Jalisco, Mexico, to Houston as farmworkers. These places, rich with personal and historical significance, became the backdrop for exploring themes of migration, identity, and intergenerational memory.

I developed performance-based readings from this journey, combining live storytelling, poetry, and multimedia. Presented in community spaces, these works reflect on the complexities of migration and its enduring impact on identity across generations.

The Idea Fund is a re-granting program administered by DiverseWorks, Aurora Picture Show, and Project Row Houses and funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
