Unsettled Space draws from shared perspectives—my own, my family's, and those of strangers—woven through generational storytelling and lived experience. Its rhizomatic structure forms fragmented shelters, walls, ceilings, and passageways built from memory.

Each artwork functions like a palimpsest, layering abstract surfaces and blurred texts that evoke the complexities of migration, identity, and home. Ambient sounds from a farmers’ market blend with a video of my grandmother’s garden, a space rooted in her life as a migrant farmworker. Together, these elements honor resilience and the quiet endurance of those who carry their stories across borders.

This residency exhibition is made possible by the Asia Society Texas Center: Artists on Site for its funding and direct support.
